Akasha Spinlash Review
Akasha Spinlash Mechanical Eyelash Curler
A revolutionary new way to separate and lengthen every lash with a mechanical spinning mascara brush. It spins in two directions and can be used with or without the included mascara. It also can be used with your own preferred mascara brand or alone to simply separate lashes.
It operates with a AAA battery which is included. The included mascara is made from quality ingredients of professional makeup artist standards and is hypoallergenic and ok for people who wear contacts. This product is not tested on animals.
Their claims...
This product lists that it will separate and define more lashes than any mascara you've tried. After one use you will notice a significant reduction of clumps and you will have amazing lash volume and length.
My experience with it...
I was really excited to try this product out. I played with the buttons that make the brush spin in the store and couldn't wait to get home and play with my new toy. Unfortunately, it wasn't what it promised to be and I am disappointed.
First of all, the spinner actually created clumps instead of irradicating them and it also took away from the length and volume. This product did the opposite of what it promised. The first time, I used the included mascara, but immediately noticed that it was clumping very badly. The second time I used it, I used my own Maybelline mascara and it was loads better at lash separation and clump removal. I even tried to help it out and used a manual lash curler, thinking that I would cheat a little bit and make my lashes stand up more. The spinner actually weighted it down again and took the volume away instead of giving it to me.
Here's the really sad part. :( During the second use, one of the buttons stopped working and now it only moves in one direction. When I tried to find the directions that came in the package on how to change the battery, I couldn't find them. I still haven't found them and am unable to open the product to change out the batteries. It wouldn't matter though, because it still only moves in one direction.
I've gone back to using my trusty Maybelline XXL 2 in 1 mascara with primer. It builds and separates my lashes better than anything and its not super expensive.
Good Points:
- It's a good idea and it would have worked if the product didn't break.
- Not too expensive (about $15 US).
- Potentially speeds up the mascara application process.
- Mascara included.
- Battery included.
- Product can be used with included mascara or with own brand preference.
- It can be used alone for simple lash separation.
Bad Points:
- Fragile product. One of the buttons ended up breaking after one use and it currently only moves in one direction.
- Adds weight to the lashes and takes away from the volume, even when using a lash primer.
- Actually takes off the mascara and primer instead of depositing it onto lashes.
- Didn't give me lash separation.
- Added clumps instead of taking them away, as advertised.
- Not enough included instructions. I still can't figure out how to change the battery.
- Even though it wasn't too expensive, I only got to use the product twice before it broke, so it was a waste of my money and time.
Final Word
I DO NOT recommend the Akasha Spinlash. Spare yourself and save your money.
